James was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, where he began drawing as soon as he could hold a pencil. He is a diverse artist, accomplished in all styles of custom tattooing from photo realism to complex cover-ups and repairs.
James attended Sheridan College for Illustration and Graphic Design and is consistently upgrading and expanding his abilities. He is an award winning artist who began tattooing in 1990, and has worked in numerous cities in North America.
James put his roots back down in Hamilton, Ontario, when he took over Big Daves tattoo studio in 2001. It was at this time he changed the name of the studio to Metal ‘n’ Ink Tattoos ‘n’ Body Piercing, keeping a Hamilton tradition alive that has been a part of the city since 1969.
